I, like another respondent, have to respond and blatantly disagree with your review. I grew up with Merle Haggard, Willie, Waylon, Hank jr. and the likes. I think this cd is a refreshing and welcome return to the country music i grew up on. Granted the album is a freshman effort and some of the tracks show that but if you want the "roots" that you so passionately speak of this is it. Waylon paid tribute to his roots Bob Wills and Hank and Shooter does the same here paying homage to his roots. This is NOT a Nashville cookie cutter project, wriiten by 9-5 staff writers and "co-wrote" by the artist. This is the artist''s work. Cudos to Shooter for speaking out and carrying on his "family tradition" and also to Universal South for getting behind artists like Shooter and Cross Canadian Ragweed.
