Dixie Chicks - Taking The Long Way

News & ViewsDixie Chicks - Taking The Long Way

Superstars, renegades, innovators, heroes, villains, and moms - over almost a decade, the Dixie Chicks have grown from a band into a phenomenon. Now more than ever, the eyes of the world are on them, and with their new album Taking The Long Way, they come out swinging, surpassing the pressures and expectations history has placed upon them.

With Taking The Long Way, one of the most anticipated albums in recent years, the Dixie Chicks are putting themselves out there like never before. For the first time, the Dixie Chicks co-wrote every song on the record, exploring themes both deeply private and resoundingly political. Collaborating with legendary producer Rick Rubin (who has worked with everyone from Johnny Cash to the Red Hot Chili Peppers, from Run DMC to Neil Diamond), the biggest-selling female band in history has truly pushed themselves to new heights both as writers and as performers.

Taking The Long Way covers an impressive range of territory with its breath-taking 14 tracks. The defiant and autobiographical first single "Not Ready To Make Nice" addresses the uproar resulting from the political remakrs made by Natalie Maines in March 2003. "Silent House" examines the emotions that come from watching an older relative struggle with Alzheimer's. "It's So Hard When it Doesn't Come Easy," addresses infertility, an issue that both Robison and Maguire have faced. The Chicks debuted the gospel-inflected "I Hope," co-written with Keb' Mo, during last year's telethon benefiting the victimes of Hurricane Katrina; the album version features a blistering guitar solo by John Mayer.

Taking The Long Way is truly one of the most personal and passionate albums of the Dixie Chicks yet and promises to be as every bit as powerful and more as fans have come to expect out of their music. The album comes out May 23, but you can pre-order this remarkable record now at SonyMusicStore.com and for a limited time and while supplies last, get a collectable Dixie Chicks Tour Poster as a FREE GIFT with your pre-order. Not gonna buy it and turning the channel if they come on. Free Speech works both ways. From some one that was in the first gulf war didn''t appreciate the kick in the face. The only song I liked of theirs was travelin'' soldier, but don''t think I could listen to it now. Wish them the best but not gonna listen.

The Dixie Chicks ticked off a lot of their fans, then they never did apolagize, and now they want to shove more of their self centered natures at us. They should be renamed the *censored*y Chicks!
I''m not ready to make nice either!

I hope the chicks are losing alot of money because of their stupid mouths. They are talented musicians who are quite frankly not too bright.
