The Grascals Make Network Television Debut on "CMA Music Festival: Country Music's Biggest Party"NASHVILLE, TENN. (July 27, 2005)—Rounder Records bluegrass group The Grascals will make their network television debut as they perform “Viva Las Vegas” with Dolly Parton during “CMA Music Festival: Country Music’s Biggest Party,” airing on Tuesday, August 2, at 9:00 PM (ET) on the ABC Television Network. The two-hour special was taped during CMA Music Festival in Nashville last month and also includes performances by Alan Jackson, Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts, Dierks Bentley, Gretchen Wilson and many more. The Grascals’ performance with Parton was taped during their show on the Coliseum stage. The duet appears on The Grascals’ self-titled Rounder debut. The Grascals open for Patty Loveless this Thursday, July 28, at the Ryman Auditorium during the closing night of this year’s Martha White Bluegrass Nights at the Ryman series. Melonie Cannon and Cherryholmes are also on the bill.
This week The Grascals received a nomination in the Bluegrass Category to perform at the inaugural Nashville Scene Music Festival. Readers of Nashville’s weekly publication will have an opportunity to vote for their favorite artists in several categories, by using the ballot in the July 28 issue, or by voting online at www.nashscene.com until August 17. The artists receiving the most votes in each category will perform at the Nashville Scene Music Festival, to be held at Nashville’s new event venue, City Hall, on September 24.
